What they did

Are your scheduled bots waking up just to find nothing to do? This user built a Grok Bot that asks every one of his bots for its routines word for word. It flags routines where "is there work?" is an exact yes/no check, like a marker file or a release tag. For those it writes a tiny script that runs first and only wakes the bot when there's work. If the script breaks, the bot just runs normally, and nothing that sends, buys or posts ever gets scripted. On his first pass it found 20 routines across 13 bots. 4 looked scriptable, 2 passed his zero-risk bar and 1 is live.

How it went

Fewer empty bot runs and less usage, with a safe fallback.

Worth knowing

  • One X post with honest small numbers (1 of 20 routines live so far). Only script exact checks. Anything that needs judgment should stay with the bot.

Prompt

Cleaned version rewritten from the source — not a direct quote.

Ask each of my bots for its scheduled routines, word for word. For each routine, tell me if the first step is a simple yes/no check (a file exists, a new release, a new row). For those only, write a small script that runs first: exit 0 means nothing to do so the bot stays asleep, 10 means wake up, 20 means the script broke so wake up anyway. Never script anything that sends, buys or posts. Test each one and show me before switching it on.

Recommended

Try it in Grok Bot

  1. Copy the prompt (button below).
  2. Open Grok Bot chat and paste it. Replace any [bracketed] placeholders.
  3. Connect the listed tools (as needed) as connectors when Grok Bot asks.
  4. If the task repeats, ask: "Make this a daily routine."

Alternatives: the same prompt works in Claude, ChatGPT Agent, OpenClaw.

Set it up

Stack: Grok Bot + other bots' routines

  1. Read the original source for full context.
  2. Connect the tools your agent needs.
  3. Paste the prompt and replace [bracketed] placeholders.
  4. Run once manually and check the output before scheduling it.

Generic suggested steps, not from the source.

Ask your bot for a security review of an email that passed every check

An email from [email protected] landed in a Tesla engineer's inbox. It passed SPF, DKIM and DMARC (the checks that confirm who sent an email) and showed the blue check, but something felt off, so he asked his Grok Bot to do a security review. It found a hidden phishing link, explained why every safety check had passed, and wrote a report to xAI with a proposed fix. He then had it add a security routine that checks his email for anything phishy going forward.
