What they did

Can a bot lower a bill when competitors aren't any cheaper? He sent Grok Bot his PDF internet and wireless bills and asked it to cut the total but keep the same features. It found no better deal from competitors. But AT&T itself offered the same internet plan for $25 a month less (his price had crept up over 2 years), and he was paying $20 a month for a NextUp phone feature he didn't use. He typed his AT&T login himself, then watched the bot chat with a rep, and it confirmed the new total before agreeing. His bill is now $45 a month lower, and the bot set a reminder for a year out, when the promo ends. It also found his home insurance had about twice the typical contents coverage, which he'll raise with his agent.

How it went

A lower monthly bill confirmed in writing, plus a reminder before the promo runs out.

Worth knowing

  • One user's X post with photos. He had to tell the bot to type at about 80 words a minute because it answered the rep in half a second. Promo prices expire, so keep the reminder. The insurance finding is a question for his agent, not a saving yet.

Prompt

Cleaned version rewritten from the source — not a direct quote.

Here are my latest [internet and phone] bills. Find ways to lower the total while keeping the same features. 1) Check competitors at my address. 2) Check whether my provider has a cheaper current plan for the same service. 3) List add-ons I'm paying for and ask me which I actually use. Then open a chat with [provider] on my account (I'll log in myself), ask for the lower price and remove the add-ons I approve. Before you agree to anything, get the new monthly total in writing and check it matches the expected savings. Type at a normal human pace. Set a reminder for when any promo price ends.

Recommended

Try it in Grok Bot

  1. Copy the prompt (button below).
  2. Open Grok Bot chat and paste it. Replace any [bracketed] placeholders.
  3. Connect the listed tools (as needed) as connectors when Grok Bot asks.
  4. If the task repeats, ask: "Make this a daily routine."

Alternatives: the same prompt works in Claude, ChatGPT Agent, OpenClaw.

Set it up

Stack: Grok Bot + PDF bills + provider chat

  1. Read the original source for full context.
  2. Connect the tools your agent needs.
  3. Paste the prompt and replace [bracketed] placeholders.
  4. Run once manually and check the output before scheduling it.

Generic suggested steps, not from the source.

Evidence

First-hand X post with photos: $25/mo internet plan reduction plus $20/mo unused NextUp feature removed, $45/mo total (an earlier version of his post said $55; we use his corrected $45). Different angle from the other internet-bill entries: no competitor offer, just price creep and an unused add-on

Check a hospital bill against what Medicare would pay

A writer gave Claude the coded hospital claim (UB-04) for his late brother-in-law's $195,628 ER bill and asked it to build a spreadsheet of Medicare rates per code. Claude flagged bundled items billed separately, a bypass charge for a procedure that never happened, and a ventilation charge Medicare does not allow.
